Plastic model of the Douglas A-4B Skyhawk aircraft
The photos show a plastic model of the American Douglas A-4B Skyhawk attack aircraft. The model was made on a 1:72 scale based on photos taken by a modeler at the National Vietnam War Museum in Orlando, Florida, USA.
The A-4 Skyhawk first flew in 1954. Immediately after entering service, it took part in the Vietnam War, which lasted from 1955 to 1975. It was being also produced for export and took part in other armed conflicts. Production was discontinued only in 1979. By then, 2,960 units in various versions was produced. 542 aircraft of the A-4B version, the plastic model of which is shown in the photos, were built. As late as 2022, the A-4 Skyhawk was in service in Argentina and Brazil.
The A-4 Skyhawk is a single-seat subsonic jet capable of taking off from aircraft carriers. The plane was designed so that it could fit in ship elevators without folding the wings.
