F/A-18F Super Hornet

A plastic model of the F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft was made in 1:48 scale. The work was presented at the 11th International Festival of Plastic Reduction Models Bytom 2014.

The F/A-18F Super Hornet is an American supersonic multirole fighter, an upgraded and enlarged version of the F/A-18D Hornet. It was flown in 1995. It is equipped with two engines, each with a thrust of 62 kN, and with an afterburning of 98 kN. It has 11 hardpoints, to which you can hang rockets, bombs, additional fuel tanks or pods with electronic devices.

The purpose of introducing the F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft in the American aviation was to reduce maintenance costs by replacing several planes with one universal. Thus, the Super Hornet replaced the F14 Tomcat fighters , the A-6E Intruder assault planes, the S-3B Viking multi-purpose aircraf, KA-6D tanker planes and the EA-6B Prowler aircraft destinated to electronic warfare.
