Focke Wulf Fw 190 D9

A plastic model of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D9 aircraft was made in 1:32 scale. The work was presented at the 11th International Festival of Plastic Reduction Models Bytom 2014.

The Focke Wulf Fw 190 D9 was a German WWII single-seat fighter with a metal structure and retractable landing gear. Production of the D9 version began in August 1944. About 700 were sent to the front. More were produced, but a part of the planes were destroyed by Allied air raids. The armament was two 13 mm (0.512 in) machine guns placed in the wings and two cannons (20 mm - 0.79 in) in the fuselage above the engine. The plane could also carry a bomb or an additional fuel tank.

When he appeared at the front in 1944, he was an equal opponent even for the best American P-51 Mustang fighters. The Focke Wulf Fw 190 is rated as the best German WWII fighter plane.
