AV-8B Harrier

The AV-8B Harrier is an American-British semi-shell duralumin construction. The plane is capable of vertical and short take-off. It can act as a reconnaissance and close support aircraft. The Harrier can operate from ground bases and landing ships.
The first flight took place on November 5, 1981. Production started in 1983. The AV-8B Harrier aircraft took part in the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Earlier versions of British aircraft (Harrier GR.3) fought in the 1982 war for the Falklands. The Harriers are in service with the armies of the United States, Great Britain, Spain and Italy.
The AV-8B Harrier can be equipped with a 25 mm (0.98 in) GAU-12 gun or a 30 mm (1.18 in) ADEN 30 gun. In addition, it can be hang 4200 kg (9259 lb) of various types of bombs and missiles up to seven hardpoints.
