Salmson 2A2

A plastic model of the Salmson 2A2 reconnaissance aircraft was made in 1:48 scale. The work was presented at the 12th International Festival of Plastic Reduction Models Bytom 2015.

The Salmson 2 was a French aircraft produced in the years 1917-1918 in two versions: reconnaissance A2 and bomber B2. The only difference between the versions was that, the A2 version was taking the photographic equipment, and the B2 version two bombs. Bombs were being mounted in the external hooks on both sides of the fuselage. The plane had a wooden structure covered with canvas, except for the front part of the fuselage where duralumin sheet was used. A total of 3,200 copies were made.

The plane, the model of which is shown in the photos, belonged to the Polish aviation. Forty-five Salmson 2 planes arrived in Poland in 1919. They took part in the Polish-Bolshevik war in 1920. They were withdrawn from service in 1923.
