PZL-130 Orlik

A model of the PZL-130 Orlik aircraft was made in 1:48 scale. A model of the PZL-130 Orlik aircraft was made by a modeller according to his own design. Pictures of the exhibit were taken at the 10th Competition of Paper and Plastic Models in Świdnik, Poland in 2016.

The PZL-130 Orlik is a Polish aircraft intended for training for jet pilots. For this reason, the airplane was designed to mimic the flight characteristics of a jet aircraft. The aircraft was being produced by Państwowe Zakłady Lotnicze "Warszawa-Okęcie" (since 2001 it has been EADS PZL "Warszawa-Okęcie", whose majority shareholder is "Airbus Defense and Space").

A turboprop engine was used to drive the Orlik airplane. The only exception were the first two copies of the information series, produced in 1986, in which radial piston engines were installed. A gas turbine is used to move the propeller in a turboprop engine. The advantages of such drive compared to piston engines are lower weight, shorter service time and cheaper fuel, which is kerosene.

The PZL-130 Orlik aircraft with turboprop engines entered service in 1993. Since then, they have been constantly modernized.
