Churchill ARV Mk I
The photos represent a plastic model of the Churchill ARV Mk I armored technical support vehicle made in 1:35 scale. The ARV Club set was used for making the model. The miniature was improved with a parts from the Cromwell Models set.
The production of the technical vehicle shown in the photos started in early 1942. To build it, the Churchill Mk I tank was used, from which the tower was removed. The Churchill ARV acted as both a technical aid and a rescue vehicle. It could tow damaged tanks from the battlefield and had enough space inside to evacuate their crews.
The vehicle had booms attached to the sides. When it was necessary to tow a damaged machine, they could be mounted at the front or rear of the vehicle. It also had equipment for gas cutting and welding.
Two rifles on the top of the armored car were being used for anti-aircraft defense. They were mounted on a telescopic boom and could rotate 360 degrees. The shooter could fire from inside the vehicle without exposing himself to fire from outside.
