Plastic model of the British R-R armoured car
The photos represent a plastic model of the British armoured car built on the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost chassis. The model was made in 1:35 scale from the set of the Chinese Meng company.
The first R-R armoured cars were built in 1914, on requisitioned chassis (with engines) of the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost car, adding bodies with rotating turrets to them. The vehicle was rear-wheel drive.
In the following years, the car was modernized. The most serious modernizations were made in 1920 and 1924. Among other things, the spoked wheels were replaced with new wheels and an open-topped turret was made.
The vehicle the model is represented on the photos was a mix between the 1914 pattern (with spoked wheels) and the 1920 pattern (the open-topped turret). The RAF commissioned the production of such vehicles for its own needs.
The R-R armoured cars were still in service at the beginning of the Second World War.
