Model of the M4A1 Sherman
A plastic model of the M4A1 Sherman tank received a distinction at the 11th International Festival of Plastic Reduction Models Bytom 2014 in Poland.
The M4 Sherman was an American tank produced between 1942 and 1945. 49,000 copies were made. It was still used for many years after the war. It last fought in the Israeli army in the Yom Kippur War in 1973.
The Sherman tanks were being manufactured at various production plants. Therefore, there were differences in the construction and designations of its versions. The armor could be cast or welded. The plants also assembled a various engine.
The first time, the sherman tanks were used at the Battle of El Alamein in northern Egypt in 1942. They were very reliable and in the beginning they coped well with German tanks.
The disadvantages were the low maneuverability and high height of the tank. Sherman also was being caught fire easily when hit (the fuel was petrol).
