Mercedes-Benz 540 K
The plastic model of the car was made in 1:24 scale. The work was presented at the 9th Lublin Model Meetings in 2014.
The Mercedes-Benz 540 K was a luxury car produced in Germany in 1936-1939. The vehicle was produced in the following versions: 2-seater convertible, 4-seater coupe and 7-seater limousine. A total of 406 copies were produced.
The car frame was made of tubes with an oval cross section, thanks to which the weight was reduced compared to the previous Mercedes model. A 5,401 cc (329.6 in³) 8-cylinder in-line gasoline engine with two valves per cylinder was being mounted under the bonnet. The engine power was 86 kW (117 hp), and with the compressor 130 kW (183 hp). Power was transmitted to the rear axle via a four- or five-speed gearbox.
The car weighed about 2,300 kg (5,071 lb). It reached a maximum speed of 140-170 km/h (87-106 mph) and consumed 30 liters per 100 km. The fuel tank had a capacity of 110 liters (UK-24.2 gal, USA-29 gal). The car had a assisted hydraulic braking system.
The Mercedes-Benz 540 K is one of the cars most desired by collectors. At auctions, it reaches prices of several million dollars.
