Mercury Club Coupe
A plastic model of the 1950 Mercury Club Coupe car. The work was presented at the 11th International Festival of Plastic Reduction Models Bytom 2014.
Mercury was a brand of cars produced by the Ford Motor Company in 1938-2011. Mercury was to fill the gap between cheaper Fords and luxurious Lincolns. The Second World War caused a stop production, but in 1946 Mercury cars already became a market success. The Mercury brand reached its peak of sales at the end of the 1980s. Since then, it has been steadily declining until production ceased in 2011.
The Mercury Club Coupe car was only sold in the United States from November 1949 to October 1950.
The car had an 8-cylinder V-type gasoline engine with a capacity of 4184 cm³ (255.3 in³) and a power of 82 kW (110 hp). The drive was transferred to the rear axle via a 3-speed manual gearbox. There was also a version of the car with a 4-speed gearbox (with overdrive). The average fuel consumption was 17.7 liters per 100 km (UK-6.3 gal/100 mi, USA-7.6 gal/100 mi) and was 15.3 liters with the 4-speed version (UK-5.5 gal, USA-6.4 gal).
