Yamaha XV1000 Virago
The plastic model of the motorcycle was made in 1:12 scale. The photos were taken at the 12th International Modeling Festival Bytom 2015 in Poland.
The Yamaha XV1000 Virago is a cruiser motorcycle. This type is characterized by a low driver's seat and a handlebar that is lengthened and tilted back, resulting in an upright driver position. The Virago was the first cruiser motorcycle with a V-twin engine produced by Yamaha..
Motorcycles with the Virago name were produced in the 80's and 90's of the last century. Despite the fact that they were sold under the same name, they differed in appearance and technical parameters. As I was able to determine, which was not easy, the plastic model represented in the photos is a miniature of a motorcycle from 1988.
The 1988 model had an air-cooled, four-stroke, gasoline engine. The power transmission to the rear wheel was via a shaft. Some technical data for this version:
- Engine displacement: 981 cm³ (59.9 in³),
- Power: 46.7 kW (63.5 hp),
- Max speed: 171 km/h (106 mph),
- Gearbox: 5-speed,
- Mass: 235 kg (518 lb),
- Fuel tank capacity: 14.5 l (UK-3.2 gal, USA-3.8 gal),
- Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph): 5,4 s,
- Average fuel consumption: 5,2 l/100 km (UK-1.84 gal, USA-2.21 gal per 100 mi).
