Yamaha YZR500’01
The plastic model was made from the Tamiya kit in 1:12 scale. The work was presented at the 11th International Festival of Plastic Reduction Models Bytom 2014 in Poland.
The photos show the plastic model of the 2001 Yamaha YZR500 motorcycle that participated in the 500cc World Championship. One of the drivers of the Yamaha factory team was Massimiliano "Max" Biaggi, who took second place in the overall standings. He was on the podium nine times that season, including three in first place.
Some technical data:
- Liquid-cooled 2-stroke V-engine,
- Engine displacement: 499 cm³ (30.5 in³),
- Gearbox: 6-speed,
- Power: 132,4 kW (180 hp).
The Yamaha YZR500 participated in the Motorcycle World Championship in the years 1973-2002. In 2002, the Yamaha 500 had to race against more powerful motorcicles. It was then that motorcycles with 4-stroke engines were allowed to compete. The permissible cylinder displacement was increased and the name of the main class (500 cm³) was changed to MotoGP.
During 30 years of the YZR500's racing in the World Motorcycle Championship, Yamaha has won the first place in the constructors' classification nine times.
