SS Poznań
A cardboard model of the SS Poznań ship was made in 1:100 scale from the GPM publishing house No 3/2015. The author of the study is Ryszard Bones. The model is 86 cm (33.86 in) long, 12 cm (4.72 in) wide and 30 cm (11.81 in) high. You can choose a version with and without cargo holds. Additionally, a model can be made as the SS ship Vilnius, Toruń, Katowice or Kraków.
SS Poznań was a Polish merchant ship built in France in 1925. She was the so-called bulk carrier, i.e. a ship adapted to the transport of goods without packaging, e.g. loose materials such as grain, coal or metal ores.
She was one of the first Polish ships to moor in the newly built port of Gdynia in 1927. It was in Gdynia, the Polish flag was raised on this ship on January 6, 1927.
During World War II, she sailed in convoys on the North Sea and the Atlantic.
After the war, the ship returned to Poland and sailed the Baltic Sea until 1962. Later she was still used as a floating warehouse. The ship was scrapped in 1975.
An anchor of this ship has been kept, which can be seen on the western shore of Lake Malta in Poznań, Poland.
