Plastic model of the Scania 144L truck
A plastic model of the Swedish Scania 144L truck was made in 1:24 scale. The work was presented at the 12th International Modeling Festival Bytom 2015 in Poland.
The presented model belongs to the 4th series of Swedish trucks produced in 1995-2004. The Scania 144L was designed for international transport.
They were fitted with 8-cylinder V-engines with 14.2 l (866.5 in³) displacement and 530 hp (390 kW) or 460 hp (338 kW). The engines were characterized by high durability and high fuel consumption. A loaded truck with a 460 hp engine consumed 38-39 liters per 100 kilometers (UK-13.8 gal/100 mi, USA-16.6gal/100 mi). Engines were also vulnerable to poor quality fuel.
The truck had a 12-speed gearbox (plus reverse). The weight of the tractor in the 4x2 drive configuration (like the plastic model in the photo) was 7,450 kg (16,424 lb) and the wheelbase was 3.7 m (12 ft 1.67 in). The permissible weight of the entire set was 44,000 kg (97,003 lb).
The inscription Friedenfels, which is visible on the trailer, means a small town in south-eastern Germany, where the Schlossbrauerei Friedenfels, or Castle Brewery is located, which produces, among others, beer called Friedenfels and other drinks and liqueurs.
