Scania R500 V8 8x4

A plastic model of the Swedish Scania R500 V8 8x4 truck was made in 1:24 scale from the Italeri kit. The photos of the model were taken at the 11th International Festival of Plastic Reduction Models Bytom 2014 in Poland.

Scania R-series trucks started to be produced in 2004. The truck was awarded "Truck of the Year" twice, in 2004 and 2010.

A tractor unit with a chassis variant, such as the model in the photos, i.e. two-axle drive (8x4), is a vehicle designed for heavy and large-size transport. The Scania R500 V8 8x4 is equipped with an engine capacity of 15.6 l (952 in³) and power of 368 kW (500 hp). It has four valves per cylinder. It is the weakest drive unit of the V-engins offered by the manufacturer. The remaining engines are 560 hp, 620 hp and 730 hp.

Power transmission is mediated by a 12-speed gearbox with overdrive and two crawler gears. At low speed, it is possible to precisely steer the vehicle with millimeter accuracy. Gear changes are automatic, but you can switch to manual control at any time.

The Scania trucks of R-series are still produced today.
