Liberation of Bastogne - Autumn 1944
The diorama was not made from a photo. We owe the view to the modeller's imagination. The story telling here connects the liberation of the city in the fall of 1944 and the period immediately after it: the entry of the army, prisoners of war, a returning inhabitant and a scene with an angler on the river. This idea allowed for a large amount of details to be placed on the diorama. Apart from plastic models of armored vehicles, we can see a large number of figures. Everything in 1:35 scale. Diorama has been awarded several times at modeling competitions.
It is difficult to stand out any part of the diorama. All of them are characterized by a high level of workmanship and realism. Geese taking off is my favourite scene on this diorama. Water was the most difficult element to do in this working.
Models of military vehicles and armored weapons shown in the diorama:
- Tiger II tank with a turret acc. Porsche project (a tank with a broken caterpillar),
- American M4 Tractor artillery tractor. It is the vehicle on the bridge, towing the 155mm cannon,
- Jagdpantzer IV L / 48 self-propelled gun - the vehicle in the river,
- The military off-roader, popularly known as the Jeep, was actually a vehicle from the American Bantam Car,
- M3 half track is the armored vehicle in the street between models of tenement houses,
- Flak 36 (88mm) - the anti-tank gun visible in the ruins of the tenement house.
