Plastic model of the Henschel 33 D1 truck
The diorama presents an imaginary scene from the WW2. The German Henschel 33 D1 truck tows a portable overhead crane. The plastic model of the truck was built from the ICM kit, and the resin model crane model from the Des Kit box. The miniature of the truck was enriched with Eduard photo etched parts.
The Henschel 33 truck was manufactured from 1928 to 1943. The military version of the truck was based on the civil one. It differed in a reinforced body structure and twin wheels on two rear axles, which were single in the civil version.
Within a dozen or so years, several variants of the truck were created, differing in terms of engine, load capacity or dimensions.
The Henschel model 33 D1 was produced from 1934. It was powered by a 10.782-liter (658 in³), 100 HP (73.5 kW,) 6-cylinder gasoline engine, which powered both rear axles. The truck had a load capacity of 3 tons (6614 lb).
The portable overhead crane was being used by the Wehrmacht repair units during World War II. It had a lifting capacity of 16 tons (35 274 lb).
The model of the assembled crane is also available in the Gallery. You can see on the diorama showing the German repair base.
