Plastic model of the Sd.Kfz.9 half-track vehicle with a crane
The diorama is made in 1:35 scale and shows an imaginary scene from the Second World War. There are a plastic model of the German Sd.Kfz.9 half-track vehicle produced by Famo and a resin model of a semitrailer for transporting heavy tanks produced by Kassbohrer on the diorama .
The artillery tractor model was built from the Tamiya kit with additional photo-etched parts from the Aber set. The crane on it is a resin model from the Caliber 35 company. The model of the semitrailer was also made of resin from the Cromwell Models set.
The half-track Sd.Kfz.9 vehicle was designed as an artillery tractor and was the largest of this German artillery tractors. It was also used in repair troops as an a tank recovery vehicle. The Sd.Kfz.9 was perfect for towing damaged heavy tanks and other heavy vehicles from the battlefield. The Sd.Kfz.9 vehicle was produced in 1939-1945. About 2,500 copies were produced during this time.
The tractor was powered by a 12-cylinder, 10,838 liters gasoline V-engine of 270 HP (201 kW).
