Omnibus and Holt 75 with BL 8-inch howitzer on a diorama
The diorama presents a fictitious scene from World War I. It was built in 1:35 scale. The plastic model of the omnibus was made from a set of the Ukrainian MiniArt Models company. The models of the Holt 75 tractor and the BL 8-inch howitzer were built from the Roden kit. Resin figurines come from the Czech Black Dog firm.
The Omnibus B-type was developed by LGOC, i.e. the London General Omnibus Company. LGOC existed in the years 1855-1933 and dealt with public transport in London. Over time, it became the largest omnibus operator in the city. LGOC also produced its own vehicles between 1909 and 1912. The LGOC B-type began to carry passengers in London in 1911. In 1913, there were already 2,500 of these omnibuses.
The vehicle had 34 seats and reached a speed of 26 km/h (16 mph).
During the First World War, 900 of the LGOC B-type were used by the army. The military version of the omnibus had windows covered with boards. Some of the vehicles were adapted to transport pigeons used for communication at the front. The Holt 75 tractor was produced in the years 1913-1924 by the American firm, the predecessor of the Caterpillar company.
During the First World War, it was used by the military as an artillery tractor. The Holt 75 tractor was powered by a gasoline engine. It reached a maximum speed of 24 km/h (15 mph).
