Modeler's vision - Jagdpanther II
The model was built in 1:35 scale. The bottom of the hull and wheels were used from the model Panther from the Dragon set. The top of the model was built from scratch using plans found on the Internet.
Many details were borrowed from other model tanks. For example, the replica has a turned barrel from the model Jagdtiger, and the fenders are photo-etched parts from the model Panther from the Aber.
In reality, the Jagdpanther II only existed in the project realm that was not completed. It was supposed to be a self-propelled gun built on the chassis of the Panther II tank, which also did not enter mass production. It is not really known how many prototypes of the Panther II were produced. It is only known that one working copy was seized by the Americans after the war and is in the museum at Fort Knox.
However, the Jagdpanther, a self-propelled gun on the Panther chassis (Panzerkampfwagen V Panther), was produced. It differed from the planned Jagdpanther II in that the crew compartment was at the front and the engine was placed at the rear. The produced version also had a different gun. It was the 88 mm PaK 43 anti-tank gun.
