French infantry soldier

A resin figurine of French infantry private from the First World War was made in 1:30 scale from the HF Sigilla Miniatures set.

French uniforms were changed in 1915. The figurine just represents the soldier in his new uniform. The color of the pants was the most noticeable change. The trousers were red in the previous uniform.

Some of the soldiers had bushy beards and mustaches and because of this they were called poliu, meaning hairy one. Poliu is still a term used for all French infantry soldiers fought in World War I.

The last poilu died in 2008 at the age of 110.
