Plastic model of the E-100 armoured vehicle
The diorama is a modeller's vision of the German E-100 armoured vehicle that never entered production.. The E-100 was supposed to be a super heavy tank weighing over 100 tons. It is very possible that a prototype of this vehicle was considered as a SPG (self-propelled gun). This is what the prototype of this weapon could look like.
Everything is made in 1:35 scale. The Trumpeter kit number 01596 was used for gluing the model. The interior of the vehicle was made from scratch. They were added to the model, among others, anti-aircraft covers (they are rust-coloured plates on the turret), a ladder, a silencer and a night vision scope. The model was covered with Zimmerit from the Atak Model.
The E-100 was to belong to one of series of different types of heavy armoured vehicles. In this project, the emphasis was on the standardization of individual components, i.e. as many parts as possible should fit all vehicles.
The project was discontinued and the armoured vehicle, the plastic model of which is visible in the photos, was never completed. After the war, only a partially assembled chassis was found.
You can see models of other versions of the E-100 weapon made by the same modeller in the Model Gallery :
